begin your journey of making your own folklorico skirts with this group workshop!
in this 1 hour & 45 minute session, you’ll learn
- what measurements are needed to calculate and create your unique pattern
- what fabric is commonly used for these traditional skirts
- the different components that make a folklorico skirt & their functionality
- how to calculate, using specific formulas, using your measurements, to make the pattern
- how to figure out the total amount of fabric you will need for your project
- receive a digital guide with all the key points of the session and visual diagrams to help grasp content ~
the class will be led by karen, the girly behind @mirandabellastudio — who is very patient and enthusiastic to teach everything she knows about making these skirts! you don’t need to worry about asking too many or the “wrong” questions, the goal is to make sure you leave with an understanding of this first part of the process!
Once you have signed up for the day and time that works for you, an email will be sent with a ZOOM link. The digital notes will be emailed the day of your class.
materials needed: measuring tape (or the waist & skirt measurements for the person you would like to make this skirt for), pencil, regular paper, tracing/pattern paper if you would like to begin drafting during the session
materials NOT needed: fabric, sewing machine
please note: because this is a group setting, we will go at an average pace. If you are an advanced sewist and would like to work at your own pace, I recommend booking a one-on-one :)
